Track & Field Trials: Allman and Markezich Shine

Valarie Allman shined at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials in Eugene, Oregon. With a record-breaking discus throw of 70.73 meters, Allman secured her spot in the Tokyo Olympics and celebrated the moment with her coach, Zebulon Sion.

Many top athletes like Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Noah Lyles breezed through their heats, showcasing their talent and securing their spots in the upcoming competitions with ease. However, for others like Olivia Markezich, the journey was filled with emotion and challenges.

During the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, Markezich experienced both joy and agony as she pushed through the race, only to collapse at the finish line due to muscle fatigue. Despite the setback, Markezich remained optimistic and focused on her new personal best time of 9:14.87.

However, over the past year, Allman has made a conscious effort to rediscover balance by prioritizing self-care and personal interests.
