In a Facebook post following his victory in the Diamond Harbour constituency by a massive margin of over 7 lakh votes, Banerjee emphasized that the 2024 Lok Sabha polls will be remembered in history as a manifestation of the people’s voice. Despite the BJP-led NDA securing a third consecutive term in power, the party failed to secure a majority on its own, relying on key allies for support.
The TMC’s performance in West Bengal, where it secured 29 out of 42 seats, marked a significant improvement compared to the 2019 polls. Banerjee declared, “Bengal and the country witnessed a new dawn on June 4,” expressing gratitude to the people of Diamond Harbour for their overwhelming support.
