Thermax subsidiary secures Rs 516 crore energy project in Botswana


Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions (TBWES) has secured a repeat order worth Rs 516 crore for a 300 MW energy project in Botswana, Southern Africa. The project, part of a larger 600 MW initiative, solidifies Thermax’s position as the sole partner for the entire endeavor.

TBWES will provide two 550 TPH CFBC boilers and oversee the project’s design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning. The energy generated will be supplied to the national utility grid, addressing the region’s power needs and enhancing energy security.

CEO Ashish Bhandari expressed confidence in the company’s capabilities, highlighting the customer’s trust in Thermax. The project in Botswana aims to improve the energy landscape in Southern Africa, focusing on efficiency and environmental performance.

TBWES specializes in steam generation using various fuels and heat recovery methods. Thermax, known for its innovative solutions in heating, cooling, power, water management, and more, reported a significant growth in net profit and revenue in the first quarter of FY25.

The company’s stock price saw a 1.80% increase on September 13, 2024. With manufacturing facilities in multiple regions, Thermax continues to lead in energy and environment solutions.

As Thermax expands its presence in Botswana, the company remains committed to setting new benchmarks in the energy sector. The repeat order underscores the customer’s confidence in Thermax’s expertise, paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient energy infrastructure in Southern Africa.
