For the second time this year, Sovereignty downed Journalism in emphatic fashion, adding the Grade One Belmont Stakes to his Kentucky Derby crown. The Preakness hero, Journalism, made an aggressive move on the home bend, much like the tactics he utilised at Churchill Downs, and just as he did in the ‘Run for the Roses’, Sovereignty tracked his move and picked off his rival in the home straight.
