Schools Reopen in Punjab & Chandigarh Today: Midday Meal Menu Changes

Punjab and Chandigarh Schools to Reopen After Summer Holidays

After the summer break, schools in Punjab and Chandigarh are set to reopen from today. While government schools in the region will open on Monday, some private schools may open in the coming days. School timings will be from 8 am to 2 pm for state schools.

In Chandigarh, single-shift schools will operate from 8 am to 2 pm, while double-shift schools will have classes from 7:15 am to 12:45 pm and from 1 pm to 5:30 pm. The menu for mid-day meals in Punjab schools will also change starting today due to the increasing heat.

The new mid-day meal menu includes dishes like dal and roti on Monday, rajma-chawal on Tuesday, black or white chana with aloo on Wednesday, kadhi-chawal on Thursday, seasonal vegetable with roti on Friday, and dal makhni on Saturday. Students will also be provided seasonal fruits during meal times.

It has been ensured that the food served to the students will be hot and fresh. There are over 19,000 government schools in Punjab that provide mid-day meals to students from 1st to 8th grade. The aim is to increase student enrollment in schools by providing nutritious meals and proper funding for the mid-day meal program.

All schools have appointed cooks to prepare and serve the mid-day meals, and records are maintained for all meals served to the students. The focus is on ensuring that students receive quality food that is both nutritious and delicious.
