A once-popular seafood spot along Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach has now closed its doors, leaving the building empty with no signs of a new tenant moving in.
Captain D’s, a fast-food restaurant known for its fried fish, shrimp, and fish sandwiches, shut down its only Horry County location on August 23, 2024. The reason for the closure remains unknown, as Captain D’s spokeswoman Tracy Paul declined to provide further details.
The building, owned by Academy Investors and managed by KE Andrews, is located in Rockwall, Texas. Despite reaching out for comment, KE Andrews has not responded to inquiries about the future of the vacant property.
According to Captain D’s website, the chain first opened in Donelson, Tennessee, in 1969, quickly expanding to 15 locations within four years. Currently headquartered in Nashville, Captain D’s operates 535 restaurants across 31 states.
With the closure of the Myrtle Beach location, loyal customers are left wondering what will become of the beloved seafood spot. Will another restaurant take over the space, or will it remain vacant for the foreseeable future? The community eagerly awaits news of any potential developments at the former Captain D’s location.
As the building sits empty, memories of delicious seafood meals shared with friends and family linger in the minds of patrons who frequented the restaurant. Will a new establishment be able to fill the void left by Captain D’s departure, or will the space remain a ghostly reminder of what once was a bustling seafood destination in Myrtle Beach?
Only time will tell what the future holds for the vacant building on Kings Highway. As residents and visitors pass by, they can’t help but wonder what will come next for this prime location in the heart of Myrtle Beach.
