The staff behind the television anime adaptation of Takeshi Okano and Shō Makura’s Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube manga recently announced that Ayana Taketatsu will be voicing a Zashiki-Warashi spirit in the show’s ninth episode airing on August 27. This character is known for bringing happiness, adding an interesting element to the series.
The anime premiered on July 2 with a special one-hour broadcast for the first two episodes on TV Asahi’s new anime programming block, “IM Animation W.” Following episodes are set to air at 11:45 p.m. JST. The anime is divided into two cours, with the second cour scheduled to premiere in January 2026.
For viewers outside of Japan and China, the anime is available for streaming on Netflix in Asian territories, as well as on the It’s Anime YouTube channel in limited territories such as the U.S. and Canada. In other regions, including German-speaking EMEA territories, the series can be seen on aniverse, while Italian-speaking EMEA territories have access to it on Anime Generation. Renowned voice actor Ryōtarō Okiayu takes on the lead role of Meisuke Nueno, also known as “Nube,” in the anime. The series is directed by Yasuyuki Ōishi, with Fumito Yamada as the assistant director, Yoshiki Ōkusa as the head writer, and Yū Yoshiyama as the character designer. The music for the anime is composed by Evan Call.
The opening theme song, “P0WER-AkuryoTaisan-,” is performed by -SKS- ZIGZAG, while the ending theme song, “Sunflower,” is performed by Chilli Beans. The story revolves around Nube, a unique homeroom teacher with psychic abilities who protects the town’s children from supernatural threats.
Makura and Okano originally serialized the manga from 1993 to 1999 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, with over 29 million copies in circulation. The anime adaptation has been well-received, leading to various series and film adaptations over the years.
With an exciting cast, talented staff, and a captivating storyline, Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube continues to enthrall audiences with its blend of supernatural elements and compelling characters.
