IDEA Public Schools Earns ‘Star’ Designation on ERP’s Honor Roll

IDEA Public Schools in Texas has once again proven its excellence in student achievement by being recognized on the annual “Honor Roll” list by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP). The district, along with IDEA Yukon College Preparatory, received the prestigious “Star” designation for its outstanding performance on the STAAR tests.

This recognition marks the ninth consecutive year that ERP has honored top-performing public schools, school districts, and charter schools for their success in closing achievement gaps, especially among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged student populations. The Texas Business Leadership Council (TBLC) collaborates with ERP to present this recognition.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition from ERP for our consistent commitment to student success,” said Jeff Cottrill, CEO & Superintendent of IDEA Public Schools. “It underscores our dedication to providing all students with a high-quality education that prepares them for future success in college and beyond.”

Out of approximately 835 schools in Texas that made the Honor Roll, IDEA Public Schools stood out for its exceptional performance. The designation is based on STAAR testing results from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) over the past four years. To qualify for the “Star” ranking, schools and districts had to demonstrate above-average performance for all student cohorts and grade levels served, with at least 80 percent of students designated as socioeconomically disadvantaged.

Dan Kinney, ERP’s Board Chair, highlighted the importance of recognizing schools where students are mastering essential skills that are highly valued by employers. The Honor Roll celebrates schools that consistently achieve higher levels of student success, show improvement over time, and work towards reducing achievement gaps among diverse student populations.

The program is part of a national initiative to engage business leaders in acknowledging successful educational institutions and promoting best practices that enhance student outcomes. Honor Roll schools are recognized for their exceptional achievements and their efforts to drive continuous improvement in student learning outcomes.

The methodology used to determine the 2023 Honor Roll schools and districts focuses on key metrics such as student achievement levels, improvement trends, and the reduction of achievement disparities. For more information on the selection criteria, visit the provided link.

IDEA Public Schools’ inclusion on the Honor Roll reaffirms its position as a leader in delivering quality education to students of all backgrounds. Congratulations to IDEA Public Schools and IDEA Yukon College Preparatory for their well-deserved recognition on the 2023 Honor Roll!
