Hinatazaka46 Idol Stars in Live-Action Adaptation of Yuri Manga

MBS has announced a live-action series adaptation of Sal Jiang’s manga “Ayaka Is in Love with Hiroko” set to premiere on July 4. The series stars Hinatazaka46 idol Shiho Katō as Ayaka Usagida and Kanna Mori as Hiroko Kanō.

The story follows office lady Ayaka who is in love with her senior at work, Hiroko. Both coworkers have a crush on each other, unaware of each other’s feelings. The series, directed by Nao Nomura with scripts by Ayumi Shimo, will air on MBS and TV Kanagawa on July 4, Chiba TV on July 5, TV Saitama on July 10, and Tochigi TV and Gunma TV on July 11.

The manga, published in English by NTT Solmare Corp’s MangaPlaza digital service, follows the romantic office comedy between Ayaka and Hiroko. Sal Jiang, the creator, launched the manga on Futabasha’s Web Comic Action website in June 2020 and concluded it in March 2023, with the final volume released in the same month.

In addition to this series, Sal Jiang’s “Black and White: Tough Love at the Office” manga also gained popularity. The story debuted in March 2020 and ended in May 2023, with Seven Seas licensing the English version. The series continues to capture readers with its unique office romance storyline.

Fans of office rom-coms and love stories will enjoy the upcoming series adaptation of “Ayaka Is in Love with Hiroko.” With a talented cast and a compelling storyline, the show promises to be a delightful watch for viewers.
