Energy stocks slide: Capital Market Report


Energy stocks took a hit today, with the BSE Energy index dropping by 1.51% to 13186.61 at 13:42 IST. Among the top losers in the index were Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd, Petronet LNG Ltd, Gujarat State Petronet Ltd, Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd, and Gujarat Gas Ltd.

On the flip side, Deep Industries Ltd, Oil India Ltd, and Aegis Logistics Ltd saw gains during the trading session.

The BSE SmallCap index was down by 0.93% at 55455.09, while the BSE 150 MidCap Index index decreased by 0.43% to 16513.35. The Nifty 50 index was up by 0.23% at 24909, and the BSE Sensex index rose by 0.36% to 81479.

In terms of trading on BSE, there were 1477 shares in the green, 2492 in the red, and 151 unchanged.
