Director Grant Sputore Takes On Godzilla x Kong Sequel




Grant Sputore, known for directing “I Am Mother,” has been tapped to direct the next installment in Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment’s “Monsterverse” franchise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming film will continue to focus on Godzilla, Kong, and other Titans within the universe.

The script for this new film will be penned by David Callaham, whose credits include “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” Callaham previously worked on the story for the 2014 live-action Godzilla film. Director Adam Wingard, who helmed “Godzilla vs. Kong,” will not be returning for the upcoming project due to scheduling conflicts.

The latest installment in the Monsterverse series, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” opened to critical acclaim and commercial success. The film topped the box office in the United States during its opening weekend and has garnered over $567 million worldwide.

The Monsterverse franchise includes films such as “Godzilla” (2014), “Kong: Skull Island” (2017), “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (2019), “Godzilla vs. Kong” (2021), and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” Additionally, there is a series called “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” by Legendary Entertainment, which debuted on Apple TV+ and will have a second season.
