Netflix announced during its panel at Anime NYC a new teaser trailer and 2026 release date for the second season of the animated series based on CAPCOM’s Devil May Cry video game franchise. The video teaser shows Dante battling Vergil. The first season, which premiered on April 3, featured characters like Dante, Vergil, and Lady. It debuted at #4 on Netflix’s global top 10 list with 5.3 million views in three days, ranking in the top 10 in 87 countries.
The English-dubbed version of the show features Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante, Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, the late Kevin Conroy as VP Baines, and Chris Coppola as Enzo. The Japanese dub cast includes other talented voice actors.
The series is written by Adi Shankar and Alex Larsen, with Studio Mir handling animation. The opening sequence features Limp Bizkit’s song “Rollin'” and an alternate version of Evanescence’s new song “Afterlife.” Shankar acquired the series in 2018, stating it would be part of a “bootleg multiverse” alongside Castlevania.
The Devil May Cry game series previously inspired a television anime by Madhouse in 2007, which was later released on home video. The Devil May Cry 5 game launched in 2019 and received a special edition in 2020. The franchise has also inspired novels, manga, and even a stage play crossover with Sengoku Basara.
With plans for multiple seasons in place since 2021, fans can look forward to more action-packed adventures with Dante and the gang in the upcoming second season. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting series!
