Catton’s Story: Growth, Sabres, & More




Catton had an impressive season with Spokane in the WHL, recording 116 points and earning a spot on the WHL U.S. Division First All-Star Team. As the No. 8-ranked North American skater, he also led Team Canada to gold at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup with eight goals. Described as a potential top-six center, Catton worked hard to improve his shot, even building a makeshift goalie in his backyard for practice.

The NHL Scouting Combine saw familiar names like Iginla, Koivu, and Plante, sons of former NHL players. Plante, in particular, was excited to be in the city where his father had success. Meanwhile, prospects like Brandsegg-Nygard faced unexpected questions during team meetings, including describing the color blue.

The combine also involved fitness testing, with results available for those interested. Overall, the event provided teams and players with a chance to connect and learn more about each other. With different activities like board games, the atmosphere was both competitive and engaging for everyone involved.
