Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Dual Protagonists, Dynamic Gameplay Unveiled

In a recent showcase at Ubisoft Forward, Assassin’s Creed Shadows unveiled a 13-minute gameplay deep dive, shedding light on its dual protagonists and their unique playstyles. The gameplay walkthrough took us on a mission with Naoe and Yasuke in the castle town of Fukuchiyama in Japan’s Tamba Province, showcasing both open combat and stealth sections. The demo also offered a glimpse of the vibrant towns and villages players can expect to explore in the game.

The gameplay walkthrough kicked off with Yasuke, the formidable, armoured samurai, as he entered Fukuchiyama in pursuit of a corrupted daimyo. Walking through the town, Yasuke encountered a group of samurai harassing villagers and swiftly dealt with them using his club and sword. His combat style focused on direct confrontation, showcasing his ability to take on multiple enemies at once with brute force.

On the other hand, Naoe, the shinobi, represents the stealth and assassination aspect of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. With nimble parkour mechanics and stealth tools like grappling hooks and kunai, Naoe sneaked into Fukuchiyama castle to assassinate the daimyo, highlighting her stealth-focused abilities. Players can switch between the two protagonists during free-roaming or choose their approach during specific mission sections, offering a blend of combat and stealth gameplay.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set in 16th-century feudal Japan, featuring an expansive open world with diverse environments and changing seasons. The game is set to release on November 15 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Mac computers with Apple silicon via the Mac App Store.
