Google Introduces Adaptive Thermal for Pixel Phones

Google is reportedly working on a new feature called Adaptive Thermal to address overheating issues in its Pixel smartphones. This new measure was discovered during an APK teardown of the Device Health Services app.

The feature is said to trigger a notification and temperature measurement service when the Pixel smartphone detects overheating. This “pre-emergency” alert activates when the battery temperature hits 49 degrees Celsius, warning users that the phone needs to cool down and may experience slower performance.

To combat overheating, users are advised to avoid direct sunlight, close battery-intensive apps, and follow care steps provided by the operating system. The feature also automatically measures the device’s temperature every five minutes and enters an “emergency” state if it exceeds 52 degrees Celsius. If the temperature goes above 55 degrees Celsius, a 30-second warning may be triggered before the device shuts down.

While current Pixel smartphones already have safety measures in place to prevent overheating, Adaptive Thermal aims to provide users with real-time alerts and steps to cool down the device. By taking proactive measures, users can prevent any potential damage to their smartphones.
