Apple Introduces Game Mode and AAA Games to iPhone with iOS 18

Apple has recently announced a big update for iPhone gamers during their Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2024. The tech giant unveiled iOS 18, the upcoming operating system for the iPhone, which will include a new Game Mode feature previously available only on Mac.

What exactly is Game Mode on iPhone? According to Apple, Game Mode aims to enhance the gaming experience by providing consistent frame rates. This dedicated gaming mode minimizes background activity on the iPhone to ensure that the CPU and GPU can deliver high frame rates for long gaming sessions. Additionally, Game Mode reduces audio latency with AirPods and improves responsiveness with Bluetooth controllers from PlayStation and Xbox. Will Game Mode work with existing and new games on iPhone like it does on Mac? While Game Mode on Mac supports both existing and new games, it is unclear if iPhone will have the same capability. Other exciting games such as Sniper Elite 4, Dead Island 2, Control: Ultimate Edition, Frostpunk 2, Valheim, and Palword are set to arrive on Mac. Apple has also partnered with Ubisoft to bring the action RPG Assassin’s Creed: Shadows to the iPad.
